.(Claremont, CA) - Columbus resident, Cory Pariseau, a member of the National Parent Leadership Team of Parents Anonymous Inc., the
nation's premier family strengthening organization, will be honored in Arlington, Virginia, on February 6, 2006, during National Parent Leadershop Month (NPLM).
Divorced and now raising three
children on his own, Pariseau sought help in a local Parents Anonymous group, where he soon became the Parent Group Leader. As a member of the Parents Anonymous Inc. NPLT, Pariseau is part of the
national organization's program and policy decision-making processes. Parents Anonymous Programs are based on a shared leadership philosophy where all decisions impacting parents are made in
partnership with staff. This includes everything from the program developement, training and outreach, to policy making, advocacy and media. National Parent Leadership Team members also serve as
editors of the Parent Networker, the organization's newsletter written expressly by and for parents.
In addition to his work on the Team, Pariseau has his own ministry, Crossroads World
Christian Center Church, who's mission it is to reach out to those who have reached a crossroads in life and seek assistance in choosing a direction. The church also runs a ministry called CrossKIDS, which
teaches youth about the importance of giving back to the community. In addition, Pariseau has created a program called Parenting Pathways, which will provide assistance to parents who are struggling
with reunification with their children.
"I am very proud to be a member of the NPLT," says Pariseau. "My involvement with Parents Anonymous has enabled me to successfully build my ministry
and to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families."
Members of the NPLT are also involved in planning for the National Parent Leadership Month Celebration. Created in 2003
by Parents Anonymous Inc., MPLM provides the opportunity to honor and recognize Parent Leaders nationwide who are rolemodeling positive, productive behaviors for their families and for their
communities. It also serves as a means of educating the public about the importance of Parent Leadership in strengthening families and preventing child abuse.
Dr. Lisa Pion-Berlin,
President and CEO of Parents Anonymous Inc. says, "We believe very strongly in the importance of involving parents at all levels of decision making and we are so pleased with Cory's accomplishments since
he's been on the Team. He has been tireless in his efforts to participate in all Team activities and to make a difference in the lives of families."
Founded in 1969, Parents Anonymous Inc. is
the nation's oldest child abuse prevention organization dedicated to family strengthening through mutual support and Parent Leadership. Parents Anonymous Inc. leads a diverse network of accredited
